Women groups cutting accross the seven local government areas of kogi west, have called on the Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to support power shift to Kogi West.
The women groups
from Lokoja, kogi, Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu, MopaAmuro, Yagba West and East, came in their numbers to the premises of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Lokoja.
The woman leader, Salamatu Asabe Danfulani :
noted that APC women leaders from the seven local government areas met to review the political situation and to further support our Party in providing progressive leadership amidst our challenges.
“During our discussions, women commended Gov. Yahaya Bello’s development strides. and therefore called on him and other stakeholders to contribute to the emergence of a strong governorship candidate for the APC from kogi west
“After careful deliberations, and decisions of women from kogi west, we wish to state our firm conviction that after a governor’s eight years in office, the governorship candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the kogi western senatorial district.
“It is a matter of honour for the APC, Gov. Bello should quickly intervene and concede the governorship ticket to kogi west.
“We, therefore, wish to strongly recommend to Gov. Yahaya Bello that the search for a successor as the APC’s governorship candidate be limited to our compatriots from the kogi west. We appeal to all aspirants from the other senatorial districts to withdraw in the interest of fairness, unity and justice. allow only the aspirants from kogi west to proceed to the primaries.
“This moment calls for the most sober and inclusive approach to selecting our party’s candidate, and we call on all APC leaders to fulfil their responsibility in this regard”.
