Appeal Court Affirms Ahmed Usman Ododo As Kogi Governor

An Appeal court sitting in Abuja has affirmed the election of Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The Court, in a unanimous decision, affirmed the judgment of the election tribunal, dismissing appeal filed by Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party,(SDP).
The SDP candidate, wanted the court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare him the winner of the November governorship election in Kogi State.
The Kogi state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal had earlier dismissed the petition of Ajaka challenging the election of Ododo as the governor of the state.
Not satisfied with the Tribunal’s victory, the SDP Candidate approached the appellate court. However, the court, today 11th July 2024 affirmed the Tribunal ruling which earlier upheld Ododo’s electoral victory.
