Atiku Receives Ex- Dep. Governor, Former Assembly Speaker, Governor’s Special Adviser, 146,000 Defectors from APC

Over 146,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were on Saturday received by the presidential candidate of the PDP, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Nigerian Trend reports that commercial activities were temporarily paralysed just as there was traffic gridlock in kogi metropolis as a result of the unprecedented crowd that converged in the state capital for the grand rally.

Similarly, the Lokoja Confluence Stadium was filled to capacity during the programme which was also attended by thousands of members of the PDP from across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The defectors included the former Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba, Former Speaker of the kogi State House of Assembly,Hon. Alfa Imam, Special Adviser to the incumbent Governor, Hon. Yahaya Karaku as well as other notable politicians in the state

While addressing the massive crowd that thronged the Confluence Stadium at an elaborate rally, Atiku Abubakar congratulated the defectors for turning a new page in their political career, saying that it was a good development that will bring a lot of gains for the PDP in 2023.

According to him, “We are here in kogi to celebrate this great achievement, I saw the landmark achievements the PDP Governors, Ibrahim Idris and Wada did during their term in office”,

He also said, “ If kogi people vote for him, he will ensure that PDP take over Kogi state”he assured.

Atiku added, “Today, we recorded another landmark achievement of additional people to the party in kogi state.

In his brief remarks, the National Chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, assured all the defectors that they will enjoy a level playing ground within the party at all levels, saying that, “the PDP train is moving forward, hence everybody should come on board.”

Speaking earlier, the former Governor of Kogi State , Alhaji Ibrahim Idris assured that he will deliver the state to the PDP in all the elective offices telling the Presidential candidate to count Kogi State as one of the states PDP will get massive votes.
