Barr.(Dr) Umar Etsu Appreciates Well-Wishers at His Honourary Doctorate Conferment by Fed. University, Lokoja

The Tafida of Lokoja,Barr.(Dr ) Umar Etsu Muhammed, has expressed his heartfelt appreciation to friends, associates, the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH.Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi 1V, traditional rulers, and members of the public who joined him during the ceremony marking the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL).
In an interview shortly after the convocation ceremony at his GRA residence on Saturday, Barr . Umar Etsu Muhammed described the honour as “a humbling recognition of years of service to humanity, community development, and the pursuit of knowledge.”
He extended gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, the Governing Council, and the University Senate for finding him worthy of the distinction. He also thanked dignitaries who travelled from within and outside Kogi State to grace the event.
“I am deeply touched by the show of love and solidarity from friends, family, traditional leaders, and colleagues who came to celebrate this milestone with me,” he said. “This honour is not mine alone but belongs to everyone who believes in the power of service and education.”
Estu,who holds the traditional title of Tafida of Lokoja also commended the management of FUL for its commitment to academic excellence and community engagement, pledging continued support toward initiatives that promote youth empowerment and educational advancement in the state.
The event, which took place at the FUL main campus in Lokoja, was attended by government officials, scholars, religious leaders, and community representatives. Guests praised the honouree’s contributions to peace-building, philanthropy, and socioeconomic development across the state.
As the ceremony concluded, Barr (Dr) Umar Etsu Muhammed reaffirmed his dedication to serving humanity, stating that the honour would “inspire renewed commitment to the cause of education and nation-building.”
