CMD, Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja Sues For Peace, Urges the Public To Disregard Falsehood on social media

The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Teaching Hospital (FMTCH), Lokoja, Dr. Olatunde Alabi has debunked the widespread speculations that the management laid off some Medical Doctors from the hospital.
In a press conference organised by the Chief Medical Director and management committee including union leaders, and stakeholders at the maternity section of the Hospital held on Tuesday in Lokoja,
The CMD refuted the claim that the FTHL management had only 43 doctors, stressing that the hospital currently has a total of 228 doctors in the hospital presently.
According to him, the 228 doctors comprised 49 residents, 86 consultants, 42 medical officers, 43 house officers, and 7 others.
The statement said, “The said publication on social media are false and malicious, it is a complete opposite of the situation in Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja (FTHL) and the faceless writers or sponsorers does not mean well for the hospital and the inhabitants of Kogi State.
According to him, “It is expected that every staff member of the hospital especially the front line healthcare providers be seen to be of high moral standard and not be found wanting in this regard or be given the opportunity to exhibit or continue to exhibit misconduct.
“The hospital is being governed by the top management committee and decisions on issues brought before it are taken at that level after serious evaluation and consultation with the public service rules, and not by an individual.
“We are doing our best within the available resources and has instilled discipline and guaranteed peace and security within the hospital community.
The CMD maintained that the management is not owing any medical Doctor or staff of the teaching hospital and any other complaint is not only peculiar to FMC Lokoja noting that all Federal Medical Centres has one issues or the other and would only be addressed by the Federal Government.
He further dismissed the mischievous write up on social media alleging to have sacked some Medical Doctors from the hospital, noting that the allegations are mere blackmail .
The CMD, however, called on Doctors, staff of the hospital and continue to maintain peace and go about their normal duties, assuring them that every decision taken by the board would always be in the best interest of the staff.
Dr. Alabi warned that the management will not condole any act that would truncate the peaceful coexistence of members of staff of the hospital, saying, “We would vehemently resist this as no one is above the public service rules”.
He therefore called on President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Health to disregard the false rumour sponsored on social media of crisis rocking FTHL.
