Danko Development Forum Seek Gov. Bello’s Intervention On Installation Of new Maigari Of Lokoja

Stakeholders in lokoja historc town, under the aegis of Danko Development Forum (DDF), have made an appeal to the governor of kogi state, Gov. Yahaya Bello to help expedite action on the selection process of a new traditional ruler.
One year after Maigari of Lokoja died, the seat has been vacant following his demise.
The forum, in a press conference held at Lokoja town hall, Alhaji Bala Haruna noted that, “There is no doubt that His Excellency is not unaware of the situation of the traditional institution in Lokoja.
He said the role of a traditional ruler in attaining peace and prosperity is imperative to the development of any community.
“We, the entire members of Danko Development Forum, on behalf of the whole populace of lokoja, appeal to your Excellency, the Executive Governor of kogi State, Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello, the people’s governor, the law abiding governor, to rescue the people of Lokoja from this stalemate.
” We hereby appeal to Your Excellency sir, to use your good office to commence in earnest the process that will accelerate the appointment and coronation of the new Maigari of Lokoja in compliance with section 8 of kogi state Chief(Appointment, Deposition and Establishment of Traditional Council Law) 2006 empowers you through a Chieftaincy declaration,to interface with customs and norms of every traditional community”.
“More importantly, your Excellency is hereby informed that Lokoja people have waited patiently for the commencement of the process for the selection of the Maigari of Lokoja .
“At this juncture, the DDF is calling on all our royal fathers, the Emirs and other traditional rulers in the state and in the entire 19 Northern states to intervene and help us to appeal and beg Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello to in the name of Almighty Allah, fairness , equity and justice approve a new Maigari of Lokoja for us without further delay”, the DDF stressed.
“While we remain calm, law-abiding, we hope that this appeal shall be given accelerated response and prompt action within the possible shortest space of time.”
