End Of The Year Get-Together; We’ll remain committed to welfare of Members, Says Kogi NUJ Chairman

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists,Kogi State Council, Alhaji Sheidu Ademu, has reiterated his commitment to the welfare of all working journalists in kogi state.

Speaking during the NUJ end of year party on Saturday at the NUJ press centre, Lokoja Alhaji Ademu specifically appreciated the sacrifice being put in by members, saying he would not have succeeded without the commitment of all members of the great union.

The Chairman said: “While members are making sacrifices, the Executive members of the Union too are making sacrifices to create more enabling environment for the peaceful atmosphere and unity of purpose for all members.

“We are concerned about the welfare of our members and veterans of the great union and we will continue to ensure that we always protect their interest,

“I, therefore, want to appreciate all the members and stakeholders for their contribution to the successes recorded by the present leadership and we thank almighty God for making us to see 2025.”

According to him, “most importantly, we must appreciate God that we didn’t have any negative experience during the year 2024. We also didn’t have any reason to sorrow over any member, so it has been a very eventful year for all of us ,” Ademu said, while pledging the Executive’s continued commitment to welfare of members.

The chairman acknowledged the philanthropic gestures of some personalities in kogi state, he however commended the chairman, Kogi state Sports trust fund, Hon. Abdulraheem Ozovehe Ohiare and Rector, Kogi state Polythecnic, Lokoja, Proff. Usman Ogbo for their immeasurable and kind assistance to the union throughout the year 2024.

Earlier, the Vice President of Zone D of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza MomohJimoh welcome all guests to the end of the year get-together, commended all members for their cooperation and support to the present leadership of Alhaji Sheidu Ademu, saying he has given a face-lift to the NUJ and provided an enabling environment for the practice of journalism in the state.

He however thanked members for their continuous support and loyalty to the present leadership, while praying that 2025 would be a year of many good things to come, “It is definitely God who has seen us through last year and we appreciate Him for this.

Among the dignitaries present at the colourful event are the Deputy Commissioner of Police, PPRO, CSP Williams Aya, Commissioner For Water Resources, Engr. M D Faruk, DG, Radio Kogi, MD, Graphics, NAWOJ Chairperson and many others too numerous to mentioned.
