Fuel Hike,Hoarding By Marketers In Kogi State:  Motorists Call On Gov. Bello To Set-up Task force To Regulate Fuel Prices

Immediately the new President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy, oil marketers in Lokoja and environ immediately commenced price hikes and hoarding of products.

The marketers were in hurry to take that action by adjusting the pump prices which ranged between N210 to N220 to between N300 and over N450.

From Lokoja to Okene to kabba and Anyingba areas, the change was the same everywhere, making transporters and commuters stranded.

Nigerian Trend investigation reveals that many filling Stations in Lokoja are selling at N300 to N400, while others close down stations.

Mr. Moses Ayodele, a Motorcycle Rider said, “Nigeria is a corrupt country, the President only made an announcement, the marketers are creating artificial hardship on the people by adjusting their prices.

One of the marketers reliably told Nigerian Trend that, “They deliberately adjusted the pump prices because with the announcement of the removal of subsidy,they are trying to raise money to enable them meet up when the price increases”.

Asked why don’t they get the products at higher rates before increasing prices, he stated, “I’m in business, every opportunity counts, I can’t miss this opportunity to raise huge profit”, he said.
