Gov. Ododo Commissions 80 Revitalized PHC Centres In Kogi, Promises More Qualitative Health care delivery services

Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has commissioned 80 Primary Health Centres, promised to provide more qualitative health services in Kogi state.
The governor who officially commissioned the PHC Centres started from the Revitalized PHC Centre at the state headquarters, lokoja, Kogi state on Friday, with a promise to provide more PHC Centres in the state.
Gov. Ododo however commended a particular PHC Centre, which is Ogori-Magongo local Government Area, which he said emerged as the “Best Performing PHC centre in the state, The governor presented the local government with a cash incentive of 5 million Naira in recognition of its implemented innovations and outstanding performance in strengthening PHC system in Kogi state in line with Universal Health Coverage among other lgas in the year 2025.
This event featured the commissioning of the first phase of the Revitalized 80 primary Health care Facilities, Stakeholders Engagement meeting, state leadership challenges Awards To lgas & Handover of Health Equipment And commodities.
At the leadership challenge awards, Ogori-Magongo in Kogi central senatorial district won the first position, Ajaokuta took second position, In Kogi Eastern senatorial district, Bassa local Government Area took first , while Ofu came second position.
In Kogi West, Mopa-Amuro won the first position and Kogi lga came second. According to the Governor, “The overall winner of the leadership challenge awards is Ogori-Magongo local Government Area, and I hereby present the Overall Best Performance” award for the 2025 edition with a whooping gift of 5 million naira”.
The PHC Leadership Challenge award was coordinated by the Executive Director , NPHCDA & CEO, Dr. Muyi Aina, saying it is a commitment to strengthening and improving the PHC system across the country and to appraise local Government performance.
In response to this remarkable feat, Dr. Aina said, “This award underscores the strategic leadership of the Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo in investing in healthcare and the credible services carried out daily in PHC centres across the Kogi state with more to come.”
Dr. Aina noted that the Kogi healthcare system promotes and utilises the Basic Health Care Provision Fund adequately yielded positive improvement through various approaches targeted at creating awareness and educating vulnerable ones on the importance of accessing quality healthcare system within their proximity.
Dr. Aina, while appreciating Governor Ahmed Ododo, entire management and staff team of the Health Services, and other stakeholders called for more action by putting in more work to ensure that the commitment to strengthen and improve the PHC systems in Nigeria is fully actualised.
At the ceremony, Kogi state world Bank for Focal Person and Accountant General of the state, Hajiya Habibat Tijani and Cordinating Commissioner of Health, Dr. AbdulAzeez Adams Adeiza were on ground to receive the Executive Director, Dr. Aina. Other dignitaries present are; Executive Director, Kogi state, PHCDA, Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza.
The chairman of Lokoja local Government Area, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, ALGON Chairman, Mr. Tosin and other council Chairmen were at the colourful event.
