Gov. Yahaya Bello Gives Total Facelift To Kogi State House Of Assembly

The main chamber/building of the kogi state House of Assembly, housing offices of the state lawmakers gut fire sometimes last year, and Governor Yahaya Bello did not delay in awarding the contract for the total renovation after a fire incident in October last year.

It would be recalled that the lawmakers moved to a temporary site at Speaker’s lodge, GRA, lokoja where they use as temporary plenary and offices.

The immediate past speaker, Rt. Hon. Mathew Kolawole, during the period said a temporary arrangement was made to put the place in order so that a conducive atmosphere for sitting would be achieved, assuring that contractor had embarked on the total renovation of the Assembly complex.

The governor has really swung into action by releasing funds for the completion of the new edifice, recently, he expressed satisfaction with the level of work done at the hallowed chamber.
Aside the reconstruction of the Assembly complex, the chamber was also equipped with modern facilities and gadgets needed for the legislative functions of the lawmakers.
According to one of the senior staff of the Assembly, Oladele Taiwo, ” I am, undoubtedly very happy at the level of the reconstruction. When you look at the materials that have been used here, they are solid materials that will last for long.”
” I am sure the Lawmakers will appreciate Governor Yahaya Bello for giving them a very conducive and befitting hallowed chamber, the new face of the chamber can compete favourably with the best in the country”.
He commended the Executive Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for awarding the contract on the major renovation of the damaged complex.
According to him, ” We, the staff and management are very proud of Gov. Bello, and we are sure that all members will now have a very comfortable place to carry out their functions in a more conducive and convenient environment. The quality of work is something that is up to the standard expected”, he said.
Another staff of the complex, Mrs Agnes Willie noted that The quality of materials used is superb. This is my 15 years in this Assembly, and sincerely in the past years we have been facing a lot of challenges in the Assembly.
“ I am very sure that the Lawmakers would not forget the Governor and history too will not forget him”, she said .
The site Engineer, Mr. Mike while speaking to Nigerian Trend at the renovated complex said “everything including their offices and the gallery has been put in a better shape, and one is certain that with this, members of the Assembly will be very proud and can beat their chest that this is done in their time”.
