Gov. Yahaya Bello’s Excellent Footprints In Kogi

Before the emergence of the Executive Governor of Kogi State in 2016, Kogi was in a state of commatose, but the intervention of Governor Bello saved the state from total collapse.

First was the gory sight of the state headquarters, Lokoja which was occasioned by potholes and bad drainage system at different locations, he took the bull by the horn and combat the challenges.

The governor engaged a qualify construction firm to embark on total reconstruction of all Township roads and ensure the drainages are been done.

Combating the imminent fear of civil service reforms, Governor Bello Embarked on screening of civil servants to repositioned structure in the state.

Of course, when man of vision leads, the people rejoice. This was Gov. Bello’s greatest strength as he toes the path of exemplary administration through his many leadership qualities.

Gov. Bello’s administration on his first term in office, introduced, ‘knowing the importance of healthcare delivery to building a healthy society’.

The drugs for patients were heavily subsidised. Under the Blindness Prevention Programme, millions of Kogi people were saved from sight problems. There were free eye surgeries and glasses were distributed to patients for free. The administration’s ‘Roll Back Malaria’ programme complemented the Free Malaria Treatment programme under which millions of people were treated. The government also combated dreadful diseases,

Kogi People later realized that a new sheriff is in town, the Bello administration’s has engaged youths by giving appointment to the younger ones. There was also a programme of women empowerment to enable women to cope with the harsh economic realities and make them become better individuals beyond housewives in their different families.

More importantly, women were reoriented towards self-employment and many of them were given political appointments and specifically, Vice Chairmanship and council leader positions were given to women in all the 21 local government areas.

Gov. Bello’s administration fired on all cylinders, leaving no stone unturned, down to the construction of flyover Bridge. His administration facilitated the construction of the flyover so as decongest the busy and over-crowded environment.

There was a turnaround in the fortunes of the Confluence Travellers transport unit. Its account was red before he assumed office. In his first term, the moribund vehicles were abandoned and the state purchased new buses for smooth operations, and they are plying all states.

Asides from the many restructuring of different organs and sections the administration achieved, it also pioneered novel initiatives in transportation, including the development of modern motor park to ensure proper traffic management and deal with the problem of indiscipline on the road by drivers.

Under the capable hands of an obviously experienced public servant as Gov. Bello, kogi blazed the trail in the area of infrastructures. The people of kogi can never forget the efforts of Gov. Bello’s administration in creating the kogi of our dream today especially the establishment of College of Science and Technology, Osara and a new University to be sited in Okunland.

He also embarked on aggressive revenue generation drive, which made it easier for the state government to ensure the regular payment of workers salary.

The workerholic Governor of Kogi State has further proven that he cares and loved the people of Kogi State, He will be remembered after his completion of his two years tenure, as his many developmental efforts for the people of Kogi State is well appreciated.

• Best Performing Governor On Security

The security challenges witnessed in kogi state before the coming of Gov. Bello assumed office was put to rest as Kogi state remain the safest.

A  Kogi born security expert resident in Abuja, Tunde Joseph told Nigerian Trend Newspaper that ” all thanks to Yahaya Bello who has managed to ensure law and order in the state,according to him,” his diligence and service is rewarded with the presentation of an award by the former Inspector General of Police,” he said.

He also said to appreciate his gallantry efforts, the Governor had Recieved several awards to appreciate his leadership role in term of providing adequate security measures to his people in kogi state.

” Gov. Bello is the best governor in ensuring security among his colleagues in the country”.

Many Kogi people applauded Gov. Bello for securing the state and the lives of residents and commutters passing through the state.

One of the notable transporter in kogi state, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammed said many organizations had recognised all the efforts of the Governor and deemed it right to honour him.

”We remember sometime when the security agency, the Nigerian Police Force, recognised his commendable performance”,
We are determined to fulfillment our electoral promises to the Nigerian people, at both national and sub-national levels. This is why I am glad that we have an impressive array of legacy projects in kogi state as proof of our stewardship in Kogi State”.

The impressive projects commissioned by the former president are the Reference Hospital, Okene, new Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) at Osara, the Confluence Rice Mills at Ejiba, the various Township roads networks at Idah, Okene and Kabba and intra-state roads in the three senatorial zones, massive erosion works at Ankpa, Ogugu and other places, as well as other roads, hospitals, schools and Ganaja flyover project.
