Group Commends Elder, Hon. Leke Abejide’s Re-appointment As Chairman House Committee on Customs & Excise Duties

The Kogi West Youth Movement (KWYM) has congratulated Elder, Hon. Leke Abejide, member of the House of Representatives,and governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress, ADC over his re-appoinment as Chairman House Committee on Customs & Excise Duties in the 10th National Assembly, under the leadership of the Speaker Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen.
In a statement signed by its zonal coordinator, Hon. Julius Olatunde, the group described Hon Abejide as a round peg in a round hole.
The group said the lawmaker representing Yagba Federal Constituency deserves the position owing to his excellent performance in the 9th National Assembly.
Olatunde said Hon. Abejide was able to perform oversight functions, achieve E-Customs and repeal the old Customs act of over 63 years to enact a new Customs Act 2023.
” With Hon. Abejide’s commitment, the committee under his leadership in the 10th National Assembly with the efforts of other members will achieve more to improve the economy of Nigeria through Customs and also enhance the welfare of Customs officers”, he said.
He further said that Hon. Abejide flaunts a rich resume, best known for competence, excellence, and knack for the country’s unity, describing him as a high-ranking legislator with a grasp of issues in the national debate, the group added that as a consummate administrator, he believes in the progress of the legislature and the interest of Nigerians.
“We wish to state that the our group is committed to the present administration and its lofty plans to address the country’s myriad of challenges,” the statement said.
“It is, therefore, important that all arms of government are on the same page in ensuring that Nigerians enjoy uninterrupted dividends of democracy in our quest for sustainable growth and development.
“On this heel, we wish to lend our voice over the committees recently set up by the House of Representatives. Of all the heads, the choice of Hon. Abejide was cheering news to the entire people of Kogi West and Kogi state.
“Indeed, Abejide is the best man to head the custom and Excise committee. He comes on board with a rich resume that speaks volumes and whose contributions to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria is well known”.
