INEC Declares Gov Fintiri, PDP Winner Of Adamawa Guber Supplementary Poll
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally laid to rest the controversy surrounding the Adamawa State governorship supplementary election by officially declaring Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner.
Announcing the PDP flag bearer as Governor-elect of the State, INEC said he polled a total of 430,788 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aishatu Binani, who scored 398,788 votes in the election.

The Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Mele, who declared the result on Tuesday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital said the re-run poll was conducted in 69 Polling Units across 20 local government areas of the state.
According to him; “Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes in the election is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
Recalled that having fixed April 15 for the supplementary gubernatorial poll following the declaration of the March 18 election inconclusive in the state, INEC ran into stormy waters as controversy trailed the purported declaration by the embattled INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari that the APC’s candidate, Senator Binani is the winner and Governor-elect of Adamawa State
However, in a swift reaction, the Commission headquarters immediately quashed the so-called pronouncement by the REC, describing it as illegal, null and void.
