Insecurity: Lokoja LG Transition Chairman Presents Security Vehicles, Motorcycles To Vigilantees, Hunters

As part of efforts to surmount the security challenges in Lokoja, the state headquarters of kogi state, the chairman of Lokoja Local Government, Hon. Comrade Abdullahi Adamu on Monday, presented five new space buses, one Hilus Van and two Motorcycles to the vigilantee and local hunters in the council.
He urged them to redouble their operational tactics in a bid to achieve the desired goals of securing the council, advising that the vehicles and motorcycles were not personal properties, but tools meant for patrol by all the vigilantes and local hunters.
Speaking during the event held at the local government secretariat and attended by traditional rulers, community and political leaders, Comrade Adamu maintained that the vehicles were presented by the Governor of kogi state, Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo to Lokoja local government area, and now onwardly presentating them in conformity with the directive of the Governor with the charge that we must step up to the plate on security.
He assured the vigilantees and local hunters that more motorcycles were being expected to enhance efficient regular security operations, urging them to always work closely with the Nigerian police Force and the Directorate of Security Services(DSS) and also comport themselves in responsible manner so as to avoid penalties.
The chairman also charged the vigilantees and residents of the local government to always give out useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in the area.
Comrade Adamu equally urged residents of the local government to continue to support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo so that he would consolidate his vision and achievements in the areas of security, education, heath and steady expansion of the state’s economy.
In his goodwill message, the Speaker of the Kogi state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, eulogised Governor Ododo for tackling the security challenges facing the state head on.
He assured the residents of Lokoja local government area that the administration of Gov. Ododo will continue to protect lives and properties of the citizenry, according to him, ” I am from lokoja local government area, and being the state headquarters of kogi state, so, the government will ensure proper security apparatus is adequately put in place”.
In his own remarks, the State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (rtd) said Lokoja, being the headquarters of kogi state, the present administration of Gov. Ododo will provide more vehicles and motorcycles for the vigilantees and hunters to enable them carry out their jobs diligently and effectively, adding that everything now is the issue of security and that is why Gov. Ododo is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure the security of lives and property in lokoja”.
