Kogi Governorship Polls : Hundreds Of Military Men Arrives Kogi, Vow To Secure And Protect Citizens, Votes

The Military high command has vowed to defend the democratic system of government practice by the country with everything within its means.

They also promised that no stone would be left unturned to ensure the smooth conduct of the general elections.

It would be recalled that there are complains of insecurities during the campaigns by the opposition parties of incessant attacks by unknown thugs in kogi east,we however gathered that it was responsible for the deployment of hundreds of military men to kogi state.

According to one of the resident in Ejule, kogi East, Mohammed Ademu, said, ” we are happy seeing the military men in our land, they are here to support the Nigerian Police and other security agencies responsible for safeguarding the elections”.

He further noted that the Soldiers are in kogi to ensure total collaboration with other security agencies to ensure that this Governorship election is free, fair and successful.

“The military are committed to strong and viable constitutional democracy, they are very loyal to the Nigerian State and they are ready to defend democracy at all costs”.

Nigerian Trend Online Newspaper reliably gathered that the military high command had established a monitoring team as well as operation centers across the three states were elections would be conducted.

One of our source in Abuja said, “DHQ has established a monitoring team in conjunction with other security agencies that will oversee the process in kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states”.

” Operations centers have been established to serve as quick response centers for all distress calls in the event of any breach of peace during the general election.

Similarly, we learnt that the kogi state police command too, were ready to protect democracy, adding that elections would be free and fair.

The commissioner of police in the state who spoke through his PPRO, said, “Like the military, we are ready to protect democracy, we are ready to give good security to our electoral process so that we can have free, fair credible, and even acceptable general election in the philosophy of Mr. President who said he wants free fair and credible elections, despite belonging to a political party but he wants to give every Nigerian his or her rights, liberty to do whatever he wants to do.”
