Kogi Guber 2023: Crack in kogi East PDP, As Sen. Attai Aidoko Lead Thousands Of Supporters To APC

Kogi Eastern Senatorial District is an Igala-Bassa speaking area in kogi state, where you have about eight governorship candidates contesting but it came alive recently when the former Senator, Attai Aidoko move thousands of his supporters and stakeholders from Kogi East to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Sen. Attai Aidoko along with other stakeholders came to lokoja, the state headquarters to show their solidarity to the Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the governorship candidate of APC, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, where they noted that the decision of the people to dump the second largest party, the PDP for APC was borne out of their conviction that kogi eastern district can thrive better under the All Progressives Congress.
He alleged that kogi East under the previous administration before the emergence of Gov. Bello did not enjoy any dividend of democracy that is worth praising, saying the zone could not remain with PDP while there was continuous dearth of basic social amenities.
Sen. Aidoko who was three term Senator representing Kogi East said, “We need a sense of direction through a purposeful leadership. I am now in APC because of my people; they need the leadership that could lead them into a positive change that will reflect in their lives”.
He lamented that the people of Kogi east have long be with PDP en masse since 2003, but have nothing to show for it under PDP leadership, noting that the people are not happy with the total neglect of the area by the party.
He highlighted Governor Yahaya Bello’s influential position within the ruling party at both the federal and state levels, asserting that Bello serves as the ideal catalyst to integrate Kogi into the mainstream of national political participation.
Senator Aidoko argued that Kogi should no longer take a passive role in Nigeria’s national political development, given the ruling party’s electoral successes in the state since 2015.
While commending Governor Bello for his administration’s achievements, Senator Aidoko urged him to steadfastly pursue his vision for a greater Kogi State, free from narrow-minded and ethnic agenda.
Governor Bello commended the group for their courageous decision to join the ruling party and contribute to the state’s development. He reiterated his commitment to maintaining an inclusive government, where both longstanding and new APC members are afforded equal opportunities to work towards the overall welfare of the people.
The Governor emphasised the significance of fostering unity among ethnic groups within the state.
The delegation however pledged unwavering support and expressed their commitment to stand firmly behind the governor at all times. Drawing on his extensive political experience in both chambers of the National Assembly over 16 years, Senator Aidoko vowed to utilize his political capital, which spans across the state, particularly in the Eastern Senatorial District, to ensure the victory of the APC candidate in the November 11 governorship election.
The delegation that accompanied Senator Aidoko consists the pioneer State Secretary of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, the former Chairman of the PDP Olamaboro Local Government Area, ward chairmen and secretaries, as well as other key party stakeholders in kogi East.
