Kogi NUJ Set Up Credentials Committee For Election

Kogi state council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has set up a three-member credentials committee to organise and conduct elections into various elective positions as contained in the Union’s constitution.

This was contained in a press release signed by the secretary of the Union after the congress meeting of the union held on Saturday.

According the statement, the formation of the committee followed the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent executives.

The council chairman, Comrade Adeiza MomohJimoh said that the committee will be inaugurated on Monday, and start to embark on its assignment with the effect from the date of its inauguration.

In a Congress decision taken today, the committee has comrade Itopa of Information, as Chairman, a notable and foremost journalist from Prime FM(FRCN) as secretary, and Jumoke, PRO ministry of Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs as member.

The chairman explained that the committee will be given the following terms of reference, organise and conduct election  within three months, liaise with the state council on any administrative requirement, liaise with the state council to get names of the full financial members and produce as well as to sell nominations forms to prospective aspirants.

He also said there job includes: to produce election time table, refer to the union’s constitution for guidance.
