Stakeholders and former executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lokoja Ward ‘D’ have officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The APC Chairman, Lokoja Local Government, Alhaji Maikudi Bature received them, on Saturday, at the party Secretariat.

Bature, in his welcome address, emphasised that the APC provides equal opportunities for both old and new members.

He encouraged opposition politicians to join the party to contribute to governor Yahaya Bello’s efforts at enhancing the socio-economic well being of the Kogi people.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Nma Babadoko, cited internal crisis, poor leadership, disregard for rule of law within the party and disunity as reasons for their decision to dump the PDP.

He also said the performance of the APC led government in the state was one of the reasons they dumped their former party, citing the construction of Angwan-Kura to Kabawa road by governor Yahaya Bello as what informed their decision.

The former PDP chieftain assured the APC chairman that he and his fellow members, including other Ward ‘D’ people, would work towards the success of APC in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

Recall that last week thousands of PDP stakeholders from Lokoja Ward ‘D’ defected to the APC.
