Kogi SDP Launches Campaign, As State Chairman, Hon. Oricha Presents Flags To Adams Quincy, Other Chairmanhip, Councillorship Candidates

The Social Democratic Party, SDP has launched its local government campaign in Lokoja , Kogi State, with a mega rally led by the State Chairman of the party,, Mr. Peter Moses Oricha.
Flags and Provisional Certificates were presented to candidates vying for the chairmanship and Councillorship across 21 LGAs, signifying the SDP’s readiness for crucial polls.
The colourful event took place at Kewon Hotel, Lokoja with the presence of dignitaries who came from far and near.
The state Chairman, Hon. Peter Moses Oricha emphasized the importance of SDP leadership saying that he was duelly elected on the 9th April, 2022 as party chairman, according to him, ‘”to the best of my knowledge, the constitution provide for the tenure of four years for an elected chairman, so I remain an authentic chairman of SDP in kogi state and my tenure will end in 2026″, he stressed.
He further noted that he joined SDP in 2014, when he became the party chairman of SDP in Ajaokuta local government area and same time became the chairman of Chairmen forum in kogi central senatorial district..
The state Chairman led the Zonal secretary, SDP North Central, Hon. Lawal Egbolo to the venue, Hon. Egbolo represented the National secretariat of SDP, and other State working committee were also at the venue of the flag off.
The flag off also had in attendance the Chairmanhip, their vice and Councilloship Candidates of the party who were presented with provisional certificate and party flags, among them are the Chairmanhip Candidate of Lokoja local Government Area, Hon. Adams Bakasso Quincy, Dekina local Govt, Peter Haruna, Idah, Ibaji, Igalamela-Odolu, and many others.
His words: “ as we present this certificate and flag to you now, we advise all of you to please go back to your various local government areas to campaign to your people, go to every nooks and crannies of your community and tell them why they should effect change in the leadership of the local govt”.
The state Chairman however expressed confidence that SIEC chairman has promised that he would maintain his stand on granting a level playing field to all parties during the polls.
He added: “ I therefore Congratulates all the SDP Chairmanhip Candidates and Councillorship candidates from the twenty-one local government areas for scaling through the screening and primaries of our great party, I say congratulations once again and wish all of you victory in your forthcoming elections”.
In his own remarks, the Zonal secretary, North Central, Mr Lawal Egbolo commended the gallantry efforts of the chairman saying he has provided exceptional leadership to the party. Your contributions are both positive and enduring. When the history of this party is written, it will smile upon Hon. Peter Moses Oricha, we need to thank him for his efforts to take back what belong to us”.
He commended Chairmanhip Candidates and supporters for believing in the SDP declaring that “hope is back.” in the local government system.
In an interview after the programme, the Chairmanhip Candidate, Hon. Ahmed Bakasso aka Quincy said the Flag off and campaigns will kicked start immediately after today but noted that the various empowerment initiatives he did will count for him.
He assured of SDP’s victory in the forthcoming council polls in Lokoja local Government Area, noting that his party has strategize to win the election.
“If I emerge as chairman of Lokoja local Government Area, I will tar roads, construct culverts, provide Agricultural implements, manage local education authority, repair and build primary schools, and provides many other amenities to bring about rapid growth and development of the historical town, Lokoja.
