Kogi Stakeholders Engagement Laud FG’s Digital Economy, e-Governance bill

The Stakeholders who attended National Digital Economy Bill Engagement meeting have applauded the Federal Government over the Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill, saying that will be a strong platform that will help boost digital transactions in Nigeria.
One of the leader of the three groups, Ms Abimbola Abogun, however said , full implementation of digital economy will provide seamless administration calling on all Nigerians to embrace full digital economy, adding that if the bill is passed, it will drive the digital transformation and innovation.
Ms Abogun who spoke while making a presentation at the stakeholders engagement meeting organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in collaboration with the National Assembly, National Information Technology Development Agency and Kogi state ministry of Information at Reverton Hotel, Lokoja.
She said the bill is a welcome development that stakeholders and professionals have long been waiting for, saying a strong legislation will give them a say and a place in the promotion of the digital economy in the nation.
In a separate presentation by the three groups at the engagement stakeholders forum so far today demonstrated that people have been looking for an all inclusive platform like this bill. A bill like this will help to improve on digital services and further strengthen digital transactions in the country.
The Legal consultant to National digital economy & e-govt bill, Mr. Chukwudi Chidozie said the bill will ensure the good processes of administration, saying if passed into law everybody in the country should be able to access digital transactions
He also emphasized that the bill will bring about legal certainty and enhanced security, adding that it will covers all individuals, entities, public, institutions engaging in digital transactions.

According to him, ” It will enable all govt ministries and parastatals to have digital records which would save funds and time to avoid keeping documents”.
He assured stakeholders present at the event that their criticisms, observations and contributions would be taken into consideration in enriching the bill afterwards.
The permanent Secretary of ministry of Information, Mr. Ebenezer Adurodija while giving a vote of thanks emphasised that e-governance documents have become practicable in advanced countries, saying that Nigeria was long overdue on the journey to embracing the digital transformation.
Mr. Adurodija said that kogi state government has recorded numerous achievements while deploying ICT tools to revolutionise the education sector, drive revenue generation amongst others.
He however urged the federal government to ensure the national digital economy & e-govt. bill is given adequate attention.
