KOGI STATE TOPS IN THE TABLE TENNIS EVENT AT THE ONGOING NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES

History was made at the National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State when Team Kogi won two gold medals and four bronze medals in table tennis.
The victory placed Team Kogi at the top of the medal table in the table tennis game at the event.
Thirty-six states and the Federal Capital Territory took part in the ninth edition of the competition.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of the medals, Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Monday AridaOjo Anyebe described the victory as the commitment of the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo in sports sector.
Hon Monday Anyebe assured sports lovers in Kogi State of the present administration’s continued commitment to ensure that sports strive in the state.
The Commissioner who was Represented by the Director Sports Development of the Ministry, Mr. Paul Aje called on the people of the state to continue to support the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for more dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, the Kogi State Director Sports Council, Mr. James Abel Igah commended the athletes on the success attained.
Mr. James Abel Igah thanked Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development for his passion for sporting activities in the and assured of their readiness to win more Gold medals at the on going National Youth Games.
Coach Friday Abah expressed joy over the performance of his athletes and praised their resilience and commitment in securing the medals.
The coach also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development Hon Monday Anyebe for their support and called for more investment in training young athletes to keep Kogi’s flag flying.
Earlier, the team won a silver medal in taekwondo and shooting Game respectively during a demonstration fight.
This brings Kogi’s total medal haul at the Games to Eight.
