KOSEMA Pays Courtesy Visit To Ministry of Water Resources, Seeks For Committed support And Enhanced Collaboration

A team from the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency(KOSEMA), ably led by the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah has paid courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya M.D Farouk at his office in Lokoja on Friday.
The team intimated the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources on NIMET’s Seasonal Climate Prediction (SCP) unveiled in February, 2024.
The Executive Secretary, said under his leadership SEMA is committed to the advancement of new direction of current administration’s policy led by His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
He also hinted the Hon. Commissioner that in no distance time the State Emergency Management Agency would invite his Ministry of Water Resources to participate in a large engagement of stakeholders to discuss proactive measures to mitigate flood disasters.
According to him, ” KOSEMA recognizes the Ministry of Water Resources as one of the critical stakeholders in disaster management, especially flood disaster in the area of ensuring availability of potable water, In view of this, KOSEMA seeks for committed support and enhanced collaboration of the Ministry of Water Resources”, he stressed.
The Director Administration KOSEMA, Mr Sunday Isiaka, noted the critical points spelt out by the Executive Secretary, Alh. Mouktar Atimah on the role of the Ministry of Water Resources in disaster management.
In his own response, the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya M.D Farouk, commended KOSEMA Boss’s efforts and appreciated the team for the visit.
Engr. Faruk further stated that flood has direct impacts on Ministry of Water Resources, adding that his Ministry and KOSEMA would work in synergy to achieve desired goals.
He emphasized early sensitization and enlightenment campaign on proper drainage and sanitation that could help to mitigate impending flood.
He stated that His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, has charged the Ministry of Water Resources to deliver effective services in the areas of making available and supplying adequate and potable water for domestic and industrial uses; Provision of adequate sanitation and maintenance of water quality.
He however thanked the KOSEMA management team and pledged wholistic support and collaboration.
