Lokoja LG Chairman Receives Commissioner For Agriculture, Stakeholders

• Led Delegation To Seek Blessings Of Maigari Of Lokoja, HRH, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir

Lokoja Local Government Chairman Comrade Abdullahi Adamu and his counterpart, Hon. Musa Abdulmalik today received Kogi State Commissioner Agriculture, Hon. Timothy Ojomah; the Kogi State Project Coordinator of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Hon. Otaru Abdulkabir Onoruoyiza and other stakeholders in the Agric sector in his office in Lokoja.

According to the statement issued by the SSA on Media & Publicity to the Chairman, Illiyasu Zakari, stated that Hon. Otaru said that the project office, starting from Lokoja/Kogi/KKF would be visiting all the federal constituencies with the aim of familiarizing livestock farmers across Kogi State with the project’s development objectives and identify genuine practicing farmers across the state.

He sought the collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that the profiling and data validation exercise of genuine livestock farmers is hitch-free in their various local government

While highlighting the importance of achieving the desired results, the Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Timothy Ojomah noted that it is only when the genuine farmers are empowered that the state can begin to see the benefits of its numerous intervention and support programmes. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate with the ministry and the project office to achieve its objectives.

Reacting on behalf of the Lokoja and Kogi Local Government, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu stated that the exercise is timely and commendable. He assured the visitors of their readiness to assist the office in its bid to validate and update their data with only genuine livestock farmers.

“I can assure you that we will key into this exercise wholeheartedly because Lokoja and Kogi Local Government is an agrarian society with most of our primary economic activities centred around growing crops and raising animals for livestock.”

“We will actively join you in this sensitization and when the time comes, be rest assured that we will play our part to ensure that our livestock farmers are profiled.” He added.

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu also led the delegation to seek the blessings of the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH. Alh. (Dr) Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV. The royal father tasked the project office to ensure that genuine farmers are captured. He appealed to the Kogi State government through the Ministry of Agriculture to utilise and maximize the agricultural potential of the Local Governments.

Other members of the entourage include MD of the Kogi Agricultural Development Project, Mr. Bello George Ogirima; Perm. Secretary Ministry of Agriculture, Engr. Sagir; Animal Specialist, Dr. Khalid, Head of Poultry segment and other staff.

While the sensitization exercise is going on across the state, farmers profiling and Data revalidation will commence afterwards.
