Lokoja LGA: Elected Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu Swears in 10 Councillors, Promise To Run An All-Inclusive Administration

Comrade Abdullahi Adamu, the new chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State, has sworn in the 10 councillors who were elected to represent the 10 wards in the council.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held at the local government council hall on Thursday, Adamu promised to run an inclusive government to ensure that everybody living within the area was carried along in governance.
He urged lawmakers and residents to support his administration in order to make Lokoja LGA great again.
The local government boss said with the cooperation of councillors, residents and other stakeholders, his administration would achieve its mission of delivering dividends of democracy and restoring the lost glory of Lokoja LGA.
“If we work together as a team, we will restore the lost glory of Lokoja as the confluence town in the country,” Adamu said.
The new chairman said his administration would work tirelessly to ensure increase in internally-generated revenue (IGR) in Lokoja LGA to enable his administration carry out numerous developmental projects that would impact positively on the residents.
“I will ensure that the executive and legislature work in synergy to ensure an increase in internally-generated revenue as well as close all financial loopholes.
Hon. Adamu urged Muhammed Hawa Teni (Eggan Ward), the new Lokoja LGA council leader, to ensure she carries other councillors along in the course of discharging her duties and promised that the executive would work in harmony with her.
“If you carry your colleagues along, they will believe in you and there will be peace and good working relationship,” he said.
Speaking after being elected by her colleagues as leader of the council, Muhammed Hawa Teni thanked her fellow councillors for finding her worthy to lead and promised not to disappoint them.
She assured that the council legislators would maintain cordial relationship with the executive to make Lokoja great.
“We will work together with the executive to ensure increase in internally-generated revenue as well as make Lokoja LGA great again.”
In his own remarks, the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, advised the newly elected councilors to promote transparency and accountability in handling the assets in their care.
He charged them to improve the provision of basic facilities and services such as security, water supply, sanitation, healthcare delivery, and agriculture, as well as partner with the federal and state governments in implementing programmes initiated by them.
He said that the overwhelming victory of the APC is a clear indication that it remains the most popular and the darling party, while noting that the party will continue to wax stronger and win future elections at all levels with ease.
The highlight of the occasion was the administration of the oath of office on the 10 councillors.
