Notable politicians in the All Progressives Congress, APC, in kogi state have engaged in an intense lobbying for ministerial appointment from President Bola Tinubu.

According to a source, the name from Kogi was earlier rejected as we learnt that the governor did not give a nod to it.

Nigerian Trend gathered that some party chieftains from the state have been sighted frequently at the APC National Secretariat in the past few weeks. Their appearances at the secretariat in Abuja are being seen as  lobbying for ministerial position.

While some of the politicians did not show up at the Secretariat atall but strongly holding unto their godfathers. This category of people solely relied on the governor’s influence and anointing.

It was gathered that Governor Yahaya Bello has interest on who becomes Minister from Kogi State, while Chief James Abiodun Faleke too was lobbying for one of his boys.

But one of the stakeholder in the state, Isa Mahmoud said “There are people in APC who worked against us. Such people are now trying to scheme for ministerial slots, how is that possible? The fact that you are well-known in the party is not enough reason to be considered”.

He further noted: “ We preffer that a candidate should be chosen by the sitting governor and not by those Abuja based politicians”.

“We are aware how Governor Yahaya Bello fought a good fight to ensure that President Bola Tinubu won in kogi state; should Tinubu now abandon him and choose those who didn’t know about how he won”.

“I am certain that at the end of the day, when Gov. Yahaya Bello submit the ministerial nominee, we will all have reasons to rejoice”.
