The Kogi State Director General, Special Task force on Illegal Smuggling of Fire Arms and Other Related Crimes Elder Friday Sani Makama has debunked the information making rounds that he has been arrested by the Department of State Service, (DSS).
It was gathered that the social media including some media was awash with the news that the former Kogi lawmaker was arrested over alleged involvement in the assassinated attempt of Social Democratic Party Governorship candidate in Kogi Alhaji Muri Ajaka.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, Makama said the news of his arrest was the hand work of mischief makers who want to destroy his reputation.
According to him, he is currently receiving training with the Department of State Services, (DSS) to be better equipt in discharging the mandate given to him to stop illegal smuggling of fire arm into the State.
Makama explained that, since his appointment as DG Special Task force on Illegal Smuggling of Fire Arms and Other Related Crimes, he has been receiving several threat calls and messages from criminal conspirators within and outside the State.
He warned that, anyone behind the importation of fire arms into Kogi State will be brought to book no matter how highly connected in the Country.
“The rumors of my arrest does not come to me as a surprise. The DSS has a supervisory role both in the national and the State of the federation on illegal smuggling of fire arms. The DSS has a lot of role in training and equipping me with the knowledge to be able to carry out this responsibility without bias.
