NEMA Hands Over Food Items To Lokoja-Kogi Reps Member, Hon. Suleman Aguye For Distribution To Affected Rainstorm, Fire Outbreak Victims

The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, in company of State Emergency management Agency, SEMA has formally handed over several food items to member, House of Representative, Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency, Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye for onward distribution to the vulnerable especially those affected during rainstorm and fire outbreak.
While Presenting the grains to the National Assembly member, Hon.Suleman Danladi Aguye, at the primary school premises at Karara, the Director, Head of Operations, Justin Uwazruonye who represented the Director General of National Emergency Managegement Agency, NEMA, Hajiya Zubaida Umar said presentation of the grains was in fulfilment of President Bola Tinubu pledged to reduce the impact of the current economic hardship being experienced in the country inline with his Renew hope Agenda.
He explained that, based on the fire and rain disaster in Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency been reported by Hon. Member, Suleman Aguye to the agency, several grains including bags of Rice, Garri, Jerrycans of Groundnut oil cartons of Maggi and many other items were been allocated to the federal constituency to cushion the effect of the affected victims.
The Director noted that, the Director-General has directed that the food items should be shared equally to all the affected victims in Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency.
“Today we are here to hand over the food items to Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye for onward distribution to identified deserving beneficiaries in the two local government areas.
In his own remarks, the Executive Secretary of Kogi state Emergency management Agency, SEMA, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah, thanked the Director -General for her approvals and her efforts to cushion the effect of hardship in Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency.
Hon. Atimah also draw the attention of the people leaving in the flood prone areas, advising them to quit those areas saying the 2024 seasonal climate change prediction has shown that flood may come this year. “These document have forecasted flood situation for different part of the country”.
He further disclosed that, the prediction informed the state Emergency Management Agency that, Lokoja-Kogi are in within flood high risk areas, indicating heightened vulnerability to flooding.
He pointed out that, it is imperative to activate all plans and measures against the prediction as the season moves toward the peak.
While receiving the items, the National Assembly member representing Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency, Hon. Suleman Danladi Aguye thanked the Director-General of NEMA, her proactive steps in approving his request for his people, said the administration of president, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to bringing succour to the poor, vulnerable and underserved in the State.
He disclosed that, the leaders and stakeholders in Lokoja-Kogi federal constituency has been doing a commendable job in distributing palliatives and those of the Federal Government.
Hon. Aguye assured that, the leaders would ensure the food items will be distributed to the affected victims in a fair and equitable manner.
The flagg-off ceremony of the distribution of the food items were done by the National Assembly member, Hon. Aguye entrusting the items to the representatives of the two local government areas, Hon. Sa’ad Abubakar who received the allocation for Kogi lga, while the former caretaker chairman of Lokoja, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu collected on behalf of Lokoja lga.
