The Vice Chancellor Prince Abubakar Audu University, Ayingba, says the institution has been repositioned to be a force, to be reckoned with, in digital economy.
The Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University Ayingba, Prof. Marietu Tenuche made the disclosure at the official handing over of internet services provided to the institution by the Federal Government.
The Internet Service is a Federal Government Project, through the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, implemented by NCC, through the Consultant, Alhaji Mansur Suleiman Tahir, MD/CEO of International Equipment Supply Corporation Limited.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, said the 310 optic fibre broad band internet now located in the institution, will help in promoting academic excellence.
The Vice Chancellor said with the academic feat PAAU Ayingba has attained and with the new digital service, the institution is now set to produce digital Students, staff and society that would be relevant in a digital economy.
While pointing out that the internet services will help promote research, information sharing, coordination, collaboration and cooperation, she described the University as one that is changing from an ordinary University to a digital academy, will assist in promoting digital economy.
The Vice Chancellor desclosed that upon assumption of office, she made security, work ethics, academic excellence and welfare her cardinal priority, said with the internet services now available all over the campus, the partnership with the NCC, she added would go a long way in helping in the realization of her laudable objectives.
The Vice Chancellor commended the NCC for having major focus in enhancing security, expressed confidence that academy would allow Nigerians have diverse base, thus making digital economy a possibility.
Prof. Tenuche explained that it is pretty difficult having a digital economy without a digital academy, said the internet provided to PAAU will help fortify digital academy, promote research by lecturers and students.
She described PAAU Ayingba as a University that has come to stay in view of the advantages it now has in digital academy by reason of the internet services.
The Vice Chancellor appreciated the Federal and State Government for the partnership that has helped moved the University forward, appreciated the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy as well as the NCC, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the Consultant and Project Manager.
In his remarks, the Project Manager, Abubakar Isah described the internet services provided in the institution as one that would pave way for research and learning.
The Project Manager said the internet services has a wider network, encouraged the staff, students to make optimal use of the facility towards an Improve digital economy.
In his remarks, the Consultant of the Project and MD/CEO International Equipment Supply Corporation Limited, said the facility has a broad band internet connectivity, can be accessed anywhere on campus, 24 hours all day, is solar powered, has 310 MBBS uplink and downlink, has a subscription that would last for two years.
