President Ahmed Tinubu’s Achievement Drives Endorsement, Says AIG Abutu Yaro, rtd

A retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Abutu Yaro, has attributed the growing support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to what he described as the administration’s “laudable and people-focused achievements,” particularly in Kogi State.
Yaro spoke during an interview with journalists in Lokoja, where he said Nigeria had been “blessed with purposeful leadership,” adding that the endorsement of President Tinubu was informed by visible interventions and policy outcomes.
“Our endorsement of President Ahmed Tinubu today is a direct result of the achievements recorded him, especially as they affect Kogi State,” he said.
He highlighted the establishment of four mini petrochemical industries at Ajaokuta as a major boost to industrialisation and several political appointments to our people in Kogi state. He also cited the ongoing review and rehabilitation of the Lokoja–Abuja highway, describing the road as a critical economic corridor whose improvement would enhance safety, trade and economic activities.
Yaro further commended the President for appointing Kogi indigenes into strategic positions at the national level, noting that the inclusive nature of the administration had strengthened confidence among stakeholders in the state.
On the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, the retired police chief said efforts were ongoing to reconcile warring factions within the party, stressing that internal reconciliation was a national challenge and not limited to Kogi alone.
“The problem is not only in Kogi. With our leaders working round the clock, I can assure you that President Tinubu will win overwhelmingly in Kogi,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the foresight of the state’s political leaders, adding that recent stakeholders’ engagements would further strengthen unity within the party.
Speaking on his political future ahead of 2027, Yaro said his ambition was to contribute meaningfully to governance by offering ideas and experience rather than focusing solely on elective contests.
“As a retired police officer and now a politician, my priority is to add value to governance, particularly in the areas of security and institutional strengthening,” he said.
He called on party members and stakeholders to remain united in support of policies aimed at promoting good governance, peace and sustainable development.
