Prince Abubakar Audu University Alumni Decorates Kogi DG, Protocol, Suleman Ibrahim, Mayaki Of Lokoja, Alh. Ali Lawal As Patrons

he Director General, Protocol to the Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Suleman Ibrahim and the Mayaki of Lokoja , Alh. Ali Lawal have been decorated by the Prince Abubakar Audu University Alumni Association as Patrons.
The Association, PAAUAA, held its annual General Meeting (AGM) Delegates, Elective congress and investiture at the NUJ Press centre, Lokoja on Friday.
In his remarks, the National President of PAAUAA, Mr. Ibraheems Yahaya commended the DG, Protocool, the representative of Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ali Lawal, the special Adviser on Emergency Management, Hon. Muhammad Shuaibu and other guests of honour for been at the occasion to celebrate with the noble association.
He said the investitures of DG, protocol, Alhaji Suleman Ibrahim and former Permanent secretary, Alhaji Ali Lawal were testament of the good character and excellence of their personalities.
According to him,” I acknowledge and appreciate your patience, I say thank you for honouring our invitation, We are proud to have you as our patrons, considering your various contributions to the development of the association,” the national president said.
The National president also said the immediate past University visitor and Governor of kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello had graciously considered and approved the re-naming of the university from Kogi state university to Prince Abubakar Audu University in honour of the First Executive Governor of Kogi state and the founder of the University.
He further noted that the Congress in her last year session set up a constitution Review committee to effect the change in the name of the Alumni Association and other matters connected therein, saying the report is ready for the Congress clause to clause perusal, adoption, approval and subsequent endorsement of the clean copy of Received Constitution by the National President for the smooth running of the association scheduled for the second or technical session.
Responding, the DG, protocol, an alumnus of the university, appreciated the national Executive members of the Association and the delegations, assuring the association that kogi state government will be ready to partner with the Association to make it top-notch, stating that he will call the attention of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to to the plight of the association..
The BOT Chairman, Comrade, Chief Usman Tijani raises the issues of providing opportunities for members to be fully engaged, urging the Association to work hand-in-hand with the government in order to make sure its members are fully engaged or employed through the effort of this association.
He therefore, charged stakeholders and individuals in the society, who are financially capable, to support the Association, according to him, alumni associations should be encouraged to give back to the institutions which made them.
Given a keynote address on the theme of the colourful event, ” Preparedness of kogi state Government in mitigating the impending flood and need to sensitive the riverine communities”. The special Adviser on Emergency management to the Governor of kogi state, Hon. Mohammed Shuaibu said the time is apt and timely given the Nimet’s predictions and the subsequent release of excess waters by the authorities of Lagdo dam in Camerroun and Kainji dam.
He noted that the public lecture therefore underscore the commitment as critical stakeholders to partner the government of His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo in mitigating the effect of the flood.
In his words; “the reality of flood is here already, several communities along the bank of the rivers Niger and Benue are counting their losses, Houses, farmlands, and valuables, properties including livestocks are been submerged every day by day, in tbis regard, my boss, Governor Ahmed Ododo, being the chairman of Quick and resoonse team of National Flood control in Nigeria, already has been responding to natural disasters particularly flooding.
The Special Adviser also assured that with the present of the Deputy Governor of kogi state, Comrade Joel Salisu as the chairman of kogi state Emergency Response Team has already swung into action by monitoring the situation and adjusting action in line with state own 2024 flood mitigation, adaptation preparedness and response road map and synchronising well with National and state Emergency management agencies and all various Law Enforcement agencies to be on standby.
He revealed that 42 IDP camps have been set up in safe locations accross the nine local government areas in the state, which are likely to be flooded, adding that the state government has recently recieved the delivery of four speed boats donated by the National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission(N-HYPPADEC).
