Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo Launches Samsudeen Sickle Cell Foundation At 52nd Birthday

The Rector of Kogi state Polythecnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman has called for the removal of stigma surrounding sickle cell inorder to spread awareness and to help surferers get the help they need.

In his lecture and remarks at the colourful event at Galaxy Event centre, phase 11, Lokoja, said he did not only celebrate his 52nd birthday but also launched Prof. Usman Ogbo foundation for Sickle cell disease awareness and Support.

Prof. Usman was full of appreciation and thankful to all and sundry for coming to felicitate and socialize with him on his 52nd birthday celebration, particularly paid glowing tributes to His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Secretary to Kogi State Government (SGS), Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade and Rt. Hon. Speaker, Aliyu Yusuf Umar and other dignitaries.

He acknowledged God for the gift of life, saying God’s mercy has allowed him to witness yet another year, even as many of peers have long departed, but that God’s grace has kept him alive.

Earlier, In an opening speech, the Chairman, Organising Committee, Hon. Abdullahi Bello appreciated God for adding another year to Prof. Ogbo Usman’s age, then commended him for his great, positive impacts, legacy in the field of education, according to him, Ogbo had left great footprints in Kogi state Polythecnic and the field of educational institution in Kogi state. He prayed to God to give him more wisdom, understanding and sound health. That God continue his hands of protection, bless him the more so that he can continue to be a great blessings to the state, and Nigeria at large.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker, Kogi state House of Assembly, Aliyu Yusuf Umar who represented the Executive Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo congratulated prof. Ogbo Usman saying “Today is a remarkable day of celebration as the governor rejoices with you. I wish you happy birthday Anniversary as you celebrates today! My prayers for you is long life, prosperity and abundant blessings to you and your family, in the name of Almighty Allah, Amen!!”

“Prof. Ogbo Usman, indeed you are a great blessing to Kogi state and the people. You possesses the skills for students’ global quality education. ” It is a clear indication of your mark of excellence and most Distinguished Professor in your field “. May the good Lord grant you peace, wisdom and blessings in abundance. I wish you many more years of celebrations”.

The father of the day, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche CFR, Ata Igala and President, Kogi State council of Traditional Rulers, described Prof. Ogbo Usman as a dependable son and brother whose enduring contributions have solidified his position as Rector and strong pillar in the growth and progress of Kogi State.

He asserted that Prof. Ogbo Usman, is acknowledged as a relentless administrator and philanthropist, leaving an indelible mark through his generosity and benevolence, noting that these qualities have become synonymous with his engagement in both public and private spheres.

Ata Igala offered prayers for God to bestow continued good health and a sound mind upon him and sustain his impactful presence in the development and growth of quality education in the state.

It is on record that Prof. Ogbo is one of Kogi State finest educationist as Rector of kogi state Polythecnic, Lokoja, the “Oma Oja Ata Igala” celebrated his 52nd birthday anniversary in grand style on 27th October, 2024.

The birthday which was grand by all standards as there was more than enough foods and drinks for family members, political associates, friends, media practitioners and well-wishers who graced the ceremony.

Prof. Usman is one Man in Kogi State, who commands respect from all heads of institutions and politicians in the state because of his positive styles of leadership and reliability in handling issues of importance in the state.
