Proposed Lokoja International Market; How Can A Governor Demolish Land Belonging To Party Member Without Compensation? ’- Lokoja Youth Solidarity

Lokoja Youth Solidarity Group LYSG, has called on the attention of kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, to call his men to order, as structures belonging to Lokoja Indigenes are been pull.down without compensation.
The group also called on the relevant agency in charge of the construction of the proposed international market to do the needfu by compensating those Indigenes who owns plot of lands and structures at the site.
Recently, the governor has come under criticism and condemnation with accusation that he directed that a particular site should be allocated for international market but provision for compensation were not properly made.
“It is a sad moment for some Lokoja people as the market is been taken away to another far place and at same time lost their plots of land to government, government is saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property and not to demolish structures illegally.
Speaking to Nigerian Trend online newspaper, Mallam Sadeeq Idris, who his land and structures erected at the new site of the proposed international market were demolished, said “The government demolished my structure without compensating me or discuss with me.
“As a result of this inhuman activity, several people have been displaced with the government paying no attention to the suffering of the people. In fact, agency incharge of demolition has vowed to continue to demolish more buildings or structures without any discussion on compensation.
Nigerian Trend online newspaper has watched with keen interest, the level of demolition done at the new site of international market and no government officials has come forward for any discussion on how to compensate victims”.
“We therefore called on the attention of the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo to look into this problems of continuous.demolition done to Mallam Sadeeq Idris and other Lokoja people which is capable of causing crisis. Something must be done urgently to compensate those affected”
A government official at the site of new international market told Nigerian Trend online newspaper that the government would look into the matter to ascertain those affected before any issues of compensation.
