Sen. Dino Melaye Emerges Kogi PDP Governorship Candidate.

The former Senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye has emerged as the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State.
His overwhelming victory followed the PDP governorship primaries held at Kefas multi purpose hall in Lokoja on Saturday.
Sen. Dino polled 313 votes while Ilona Idoko had 124 votes. Hon Kabiru Usman garnered 121 votes while former Deputy Governor, Awoniyi scored 77 votes and the PDP governorship candidate in 2019 Engr Musa Wada had 56 votes.
A week before the state congress, there are different complaints on allegedly altered delegates list with protest leading to the Congress but the process today however went on smoothly, with the supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Sen. Ahmed Maikarfi, former Governor of Kaduna State is the Chairman Electoral Committee,who double as the state returning officer declared Sen. Melaye as winner of the election.
” I hereby return Sen. Dino Melaye as the PDP Governorship candidate,” he said, noting that the exercise was very credible”.
Prior to the commencement of the Election, Melaye had told journalists that tackling unemployment and prompt salary payment would top the list, if elected as governor of kogi state.
