- Demands For Power Shift To Kogi West.

Stakeholders from Kogi West have called on President Muhammadu Buhari, President- Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Yahaya Bello to allow kogi west to produce the next governor of Kogi.
Sen. Smart Adeyemi and some notable stakeholders in Okunland embarked on a thank-you tour to express their gratitude for the overwhelming support during the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The Stakeholders spoke at the APC ‘Thank You” rally organized by Senator Smart Adeyemi to thank the people of the zone for their supports to the party in the just concluded general elections.
Adeyemi while speaking at the rally organized in Kabba, headquarters of the Senatorial district said the “Thank you” rally was important as the zone gave the ruling party overwhelming votes in the last general elections.
He however said the law of natural Justice supports the agitations of the various speakers who want the zone to produce the next governor for the state.
He recalled that since the creation of the state 32 years ago, the Eastern senatorial district of the state, has produced three governors at various times, which spanned for 20 years and the central axis of the state also produced a governor, who will be completing his two term tenure of 8 years while the western senatorial district, has never produced any governor.
He said, “For fairness, equity and justice, the governorship position should move to the Western Senatorial district.
“We therefore urged Governor Yahaya Bello concede the Governor to kogi west noting that his northern colleagues conceded presidential ticket to southern part of the country.
“If governor Bello toe the part of the northern governor and reciprocate the gesture in Kogi state, he will be remember for many generations to come as the hero of Kogi democracy.”
Sen. Adeyemi called on President -Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to throw his support behind the agitation for Kogi West to produce the next governor, saying that he was also beneficiary of the APC zoning system that returned power to the South.
Several okun sons and daughters spoke at the unprecedented rally including a Commissioner at Universal Basic Education, Amb. Dare Olutekunbi however said if the zone should produce the next governor, Senator Adeyemi should be consider for the position.
“Senator Adeyemi, who is the current senate committee chairman on FCT, has served in the senate for three terms. He is an honest politician, a team player and someone well loved by his people, he is a man of diligence and impeccable character.
“His knowledge as a senator and NUJ former president has given him the requisite experience, capabilities and acceptability to make the APC win the governorship election.”
