Suspended Council Chairmen Refuse To Vacate Offices.

Suspended Chairmen of local government areas in kogi State have refused to vacate their offices.

It would be recalled that members of the Kogi state House of Assembly had at a plenary on Thursday suspended 6 chairmen indefinitely and instructed them to immediately hand over to their vice chairmen or council leaders , adding that investigation into their alleged anti-party activities, aiding of terrorism would continue.

When Nigerian Trend contacted some of the lawmakers expressed their displeasure with two of the suspended council chairmen who refused to honour a directives from Assembly.

They described the council chairman’ action as “disrespectful”.

But findings by Nigerian Trend revealed that some of the suspended chairmen had not handed over to their vice chairmen or council leaders as instructed by the lawmakers.

When our reporter visited some council headquarters, the suspended chairmen were not sighted and their offices locked.

A civil servant at a local government area told Nigerian Trend that a suspended chairman from Central district had in a video sent on social media reported to the office and his aides stood behind him, boasting that their boss will not leave office.

He told our reporter that the suspended chairman did not hand over to his deputy before leaving the office on Friday, 24th march, 2023.

A vice chairman of one of the affected LGAs in kogi, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said his boss had not handed over to her as instructed by the lawmakers.

One of the suspended chairmen told our correspondent that all the suspended chairmen will be meeting soon to find a lasting solution to the problem.

He expressed optimism that the feud between them and the lawmakers might be resolved by next week.
