Top Three Governorship Contenders In Kogi.

Since the inception of creation of kogi state, the people have been clamouring for good leaders to give them hope, engender economic prosperity, support veritable means of livelihood and tackle insecurity and other developmental challenges.
Late Prince Abubakar Audu became the first Executive Governor of Kogi state 1992,Prince Audu came back as democratically elected Governor in 1999, and Alhaji Ibrahim Idris won as the next Governor in 2002,and he spent two term in office.
Former Governor Idris Wada came in and spent one term in office. After the demise of late prince Abubakar Audu in 2015,Alhaji Yahaya Bello became the governor of kogi state and now geting to his eight years in office.
Many had in 2023 thought that the disadvantage senatorial district, kogi west will be given an opportunity to rule the state, seven years after, the search has become even more imperative.
Ahead of the 2023 general election, three major governorship candidates have emerged in kogi state: Sen. Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Usman Ahmed Ododo of the All progressives Congress (APC) and Leke Abejide ; African Democratic Party (ADC) getting ready to slug it out in the polls.
Of course, in a multi-party democratic state like Nigeria, there are other political parties who are having their imprints of participation in the electoral system, but this three parties (APC, PDP and ADC) in kogi state seem to be getting stronger and tougher.
Even though, the ADC had a parallel congress in kogi state, another Faction orgsnised a congress at Lilly Grand Hotel in lokoja on Sunday, affirming Dele Bello-Williams as its governorship candidate of ADC.
Usman Ahmed Ododo, is an accountant, a former Auditor General of Kogi State. He is the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC.
Senator Dino Melaye, was one a member of House of Representatives and later became a Senator. He is presently the flagbearer of Peoples Democratic Party in kogi state.
Hon. Leke Abejide is a legislator, serving member of the House of Representatives, who recently won his re-election bid to the National Assembly. He is contesting for governorship race. He has been elected as the governorship candidate of the ADC.
The candidates have made their marks in different forms of engagements, both in the political and economic spaces.
